Enrico Malatesta & Luciano Maggiore / Pure / Rashad Becker

Enrico Malatesta (*1985, Cesena Italy ) is a percussionist active in the field of contemporary music; he studied classical percussion instruments at the β€œBruno Maderna” Conservatory in Cesena, and his personal activity and research is aimed to extend the sonic and multi-Β­material possibilities of percussion instruments through simple gestural techniques, able to realise complex polyrhythmic thicknesses and multiple information that exist between performer, space and instrument.

Besides his ongoing solo and ensemble projects he is also active performing works from the soloist repertoire of the 20th Century, including graphic scores by John Cage, Morton Feldman, Earle Brown among others.

He regularly works as a duo with percussionists Christian Wolfarth and Seijiro Murayama and he is a founder member of the percussion ensemble GlΓΌck in wich is involved together with Burkhard Beins, Michael Vorfeld, Christian Wolfarth and Ingar Zach.; also works regularly, in different combination, with the sound artists Giuseppe Ielasi, Luciano Maggiore, Riccardo Baruzzi, Nicola Ratti, Attila Faravelli and Renato Rinaldi; for the development of his projects and collaborations he has taken part in residency programs in international spaces like Q​­o2 ​workspace for experimental music, Bruxelles (BE), Hotel Pupik ​artists in residence, Schrattenberg (A), A.I.R. Krems Krems and der Donau (A), Careof/Fabbrica del Vapore, Milano (IT), La Chambre Blanche Ville de QuΓ¨bec, (CAN); he played concerts throughout Europe, North America, Japan and South Korea and his work is released by the labels Presto!? Records, Second Sleep, Senufo Editions, Entr’acte, Alku, Balloon and Needle.

Between 2007 and 2013 he worked for Teatro Valdoca and Mariangela Gualtieri as sound director and stage musician. He is interested in teaching and he developed β€œSull’Istmo” a theoretical/practical workshop on sonic detail set up in various locations, in Italy and abroad; he frequently organizes events and lectures with the purpose to improve the diffusion of contemporary and traditional music in his area.

Luciano Maggiore (Palermo 1980) lives and works in Bologna. Active musician in the field of electroacoustic music, in recent years he has developed a strong interest in the mechanisms of sound diffusion, using speakers and several analogue and digital devices (walkmans, CD players, tape recorders) as principal instruments. His interest is focused on the architectural and psychoacoustic as well as dynamic and directional values of sound with a strong emphasis on fixed sounds.

He regularly plays in duo with Francesco Brasini and Enrico Malatesta.

His works are published by Boring Machines, Senufo editions and Tulip records.

PURE has been making electronic music since 1992. He creates hypnotic, soundtrack-like pieces that trigger associations of dreams and science fiction novels using a mix of electroacoustic composition, sound synthesis, and live electronics.

He has over 30 physical and digital releases of solo and collaborative works in different styles under various pseudonyms on such labels as Mego (at), CrΓ³nica (pt), Staalplaat (nl), Praxis (ch), and his own labels dOc, LOOP, ATMOSFEAR, and SUB/VERSION (w/ Christoph Fringeli). He has played at numerous festivals around Europe and North America, such as Argos (be), Club Transmediale (de), Mutek (ca), RGB v1 (fr), Sendandreceive (ca), Phonotaktik (usa).

Current projects include a collaboration with german technobass legend Martin Maischein (of β€œHeinrich at Hart” fame). As BOLDER they are working on their first album of morbid funk/doomstep. Together with polish percussion duo HATI he forms PRSZR. PRSZR will releases their first album in spring 2012. Occasionally he still plays special one-off gigs with his early-90ies Rave prank-band ILSA GOLD (together with Christopher Just)

Released his first solo album β€œTraditional Music of Notional Species Vol. 1” on PAN in 2013.
