Loading ...Iain McCurdy is a composer and inventor currently working mostly in the medium of sound installation. The pieces that he builds are in some ways anti-technology in that they hide away any technology they use underneath natural materials, primary colours and interfaces that encourage play rather than performance. The technology that is used is often derived from everyday objects – there are no touch-screens or brand names here. The final act of composition is passed on to the visitor when these pieces are installed but the majority of compositional control is still retained by the composer, the activities required when interacting with these pieces provide a metaphor for the compositional processes instilled into the pieces by the composer.
